That’s probably about all it takes to beat Gibbons if he gets the repub nomination.
No way does Gibbons makes it out of the primary, right? So who runs? Heller? Porter? Someone from the lege?
Has anyone heard anything recent on Oscar Goodman? I have no idea, I’m just throwing this out there.
He’s not young – he’s 69 currently – so if he’s ever going to make a move for higher office, this would seem to be the time and place.
Would be a very solid choice. I still would’ve rather seen her run for CD-3 and Dina Titus take Gibbons on again, this time beating him by 20…
I agree with those above though: Gibbons won’t get out of a primary. I think he’ll go the Frank Murkowski route…he thinks he can still win a contested primary, so he will run for re-election. I think Jon Porter gets in that race though, or Krolicki if the indictment goes away.
For Governor, in order of preference:
1. Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley (D-Las Vegas)- She actually has a plan, a really awesome progressive plan, to fix Nevada’s fiscal woes! She’s a fighter, she’s on our side, and I think she’ll kick some serious GOP ass in 2010.
2. SoS Ross Miller- I doubt he’ll run this time, but he’s a good guy & I’d support him if he were to do it.
3. AG Catherine Cortez Masto- I also doubt she’ll run, as she wouldn’t want to step over Buckley. But if she were to do it, I’d really be inclined to support her.
4. Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid- He’s not my top pick, but he’s not all that bad either. If he wins the primary, he’ll have my full 120% support. If the primary ends up being a R. Reid v. Goodman bloodmatch, I’ll work my ass off for him.
The only Dem (?) I have serious issues with is LV Mayor Oscar Goodman. He has a history of mob coziness (he was their lawyer), corporatism to the nth degree, & all around sleaziness. I fear that if he were our candidate, even Gibbons could possibly beat him. He’s not worth that risk, trust me.
Solid candidate who would crush Gibbons in a GE and probably could be Heller easily too.
I would strongly prefer it NOT be Goodman or Reid. I could live with Reid but we’ve got way better candidates then those two.
That is, the municipal election in Vegas. Apparently, the Culinary Union is ready to do battle with Goodman…

Haha. It looks like someone has the spine to take him on. When Vegas is being hit hard by the economy & the resulting state & local budget cuts, Mayor Goodman wants to lavish more $$$$ on his “Taj Mahal City Hall”. Why? Why allow deep cuts in education, fire safety, and other basic services to allow for more corporate welfare & redevelopment madness?
I may not always agree with Culinary leadership, but I applaud them now for taking on Goodman… And hopefully making sure that he won’t be our Gubernatorial nominee in 2010!
